Delicious, Plentiful and Free, meet the Humble Oyster Mushroom!

I have been craving fried Oyster mushrooms.

Has anyone found any this spring? The hot weather usually shuts them down, but this rain might get them flushing again. I will have to check my spots in a couple days.

I believe that oyster mushrooms are one of the most under rated mushroom in the wild. They are tasty, healthy and easy to find and identify.

They are very easy to grow and will grow on almost anything!

Get out there and find some oyster mushrooms for dinner and let us know how you did!

Happy hunting,

Dean

2014 Mushroom Season

Hello Mushroom Hunters! How did everyone do this year? The spring started off with a bang…morels and oysters everywhere…and then the heat came and everything stopped. We waited, and waited, and then the rains came! The fall season was a perfect mix of rain and heat. The chanterelles came, the porcini came and all of the other fall favorites showed up for the party. Every time it got too dry for mushrooms, the rains came and saved the flush. I don’t ever remeber picking this late into the year.Shaggy Parasol 0916131445
